OVERVIEW

My portfolio spans a gamut of hands-on coding in Swift, C++, HTML, client & server MVC JavaScript, Java, Ruby, and embedded code on RTOS or bare metal. I regularly prototype hardware devices on ARM and Atmel with emerging sensors, actuators, and BLE/WLAN/cellular connectivity.

I've also shipped large responsive web apps, and built frameworks to aid development. I was a charter contributor to Apache Cordova/Adobe PhoneGap, and created LiveCard, an early web app framework for Apple.

When developing connected hardware, I craft early-stage, high-fidelity physical prototypes combining industrial design with embedded electronics and custom firmware. Approaching production, I collaborate on designs for manufacture, working directly with brand, industrial design, ux, and mechanical engineering teams. I have a sharp focus on building products and systems linking consumer behavior with business and social value.

Based in the SF Bay Area, I eagerly travel to understand customers and work with international dev/design teams, deploying both regional and global products.

Common to many of these is constructing and linking low-powered, often screenless devices – in wearables, appliances, automotive, or ambient spaces – to mobile apps and the cloud.

My 5-year plan includes developing hardware in China, building products that help new families, and services that facilitate aging well and extended elder independence.
